This
week Barbara was baptized! It was fantastic. She called us on Thursday and
said, hey I can get baptized this Saturday! So we had her interviewed again and
it all went off without a hitch! Then I got to confirm her on Sunday! It's the
first baptism this area has had in over two years. And we have another one
(John) coming up on the 26th! This week besides that, not to much happened. I
went on exchanges with Elder Tua'one and when we went up to this one door to
ask for Quinton there was this rat just chilling in the space we had to walk through
to get to the door. We were kind of freaked out by it because it wasn't moving.
We thought it was going to just run at us all of a sudden and attack us. It was
pretty terrifying. That's what the first picture is of. (note from mom: I can't get it to upload but will keep trying) The last three are of
Barbara's baptism. Because I have nothing else of interest that happened this
week that I can think of, here is a short thought.
"The
proud cannot accept the authority of God giving direction to their lives. They
pit their perceptions of truth against God’s great knowledge, their abilities
versus God’s priesthood power, their accomplishments against His mighty works.
Our enmity toward God takes on many labels, such as rebellion,
hard-heartedness, stiff-neckedness, unrepentant, puffed up, easily offended,
and sign seekers. The proud wish God would agree with them. They aren’t
interested in changing their opinions to agree with God’s."
-Ezra
Taft Benson
When
I first read this it made me think real hard about how I 'pit' myself against
God. We all do it in some way or another. The most common way is by breaking
His commandments. When we break a commandment we're saying, "I know
better. I'm going to try it my way." It never works out all that great.
The greatest happiness comes from keeping the commandments of God regardless of
our circumstances. Love you all!
